About Chiro

What Can I Expect During My First Visit?

Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family. We will request that you complete our new patient forms. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition. Next, you will have an initial consultation with one of our chiropractic assistants to gather further information. After that, Dr. Spence will discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Spence to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.

After your consultation, Dr. Spence will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent. As it is most convenient for Dr. Spence to treat your spinal problems as she is assessing you, your first chiropractic treatment will be administered at this time. In some cases x-rays may be necessary to determine an exact diagnosis. If that is necessary we will help find the nearest diagnostic imaging center to help you.

Once the information is collected, and examinations and first treatment are performed, Dr. Spence will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:

  1. What is my problem?
  2. Can you help me?
  3. How much will is cost?

Dr. Spence will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. She will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.

At our office, treatment is interactive. Please express any concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime. Prior to leaving, Dr. Spence will suggest a home care program to incorporate outside of the office. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire, we will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for a lifestyle. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
